How to use Lid and Display Utility

1. General
This utility has two features.  
One is controlling Display device and the other is controlling LID switch 
to suspend your computer.


2. Display Device
One feature is controlling display device.  This utility checks whether 
machine is connected to an external monitor or not.
If an external monitor is connected, this utility changes display mode 
only an external monitor. When an external monitor isn't connected, it 
changes display mode only a LCD panel.

This utility can change three display modes as below. 
NeoMagic-Display Driver also supports following display device modes.

LCD mode  :Display only a LCD panel
CRT mode  :Display only an external monitor
BOTH mode :Display both an external monitor and a LCD panel 

If you use 1024 x 768 desktop, you set CRT mode in this utility and its 
resolution in the display property.
If you set LCD mode or BOTH mode in this utility, desktop is displayed 
Virtual screen.


3. LID Switch
One feature is controlling LID feature to suspend your computer.  
There are three modes such as Auto/Enable/Disable.

AUTO	 :Disable LID feature at docking state.  (Do not go to suspend)
	  Enable LID feature at undocking state.  (Go to suspend)	 
ENABLE 	 :Enable LID feature at any state. (Go to suspend)
DISABLE	 :Disable LID feature at any state. (Do not go to suspend)


4. How to Install and run utility
(1) Please copy 2 files(DDCU.VXD and LIDDISP.EXE) to a folder.
(2) Run LIDDISP.EXE from Windows Explorer and so on.
    LIDDISP.EXE icon is shown on task tray.

Or you can use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. 
How to install Suspend utility and Display Device Change utility.

(1) Run [Add/Remove Programs] in Control Panel.
(2) Select [Windows Setup] tab.
(3) Click [Have Disk] button.
(4) When "Install From Disk" dialog is displayed, set this disk to 
    your floppy disk drive and press [OK] button.
(5) Check "HP Utility" and press [Install] button.
(6) Press [OK] button when files have been copied.

This utility is registered at [Start] - [Program] - [HP Utility].


5. How to operate this utility

<LIDDISP.EXE icon at task tray>
> Display Device
	Click the icon with left button.
	There are the following items in Popup menu.
	-------------
	LCD	:Display only a LCD panel.
	CRT	:Display only an external monitor.
	BOTH	:Display both an external monitor and a LCD panel.
	-------------
	Show Dialog	:Show this utility's dialog.
	-------------
	Exit	:Exit this utility.
	-------------
> LID switch 
	Click the icon with right button.
	There are the following items in Popup menu.
	-------------
	AUTO	:Enable LID feature at undocking state.  (Go to suspend)	 
		:Disable LID feature at docking state. (Do not go to suspend)
	ENABLE  :Enable LID feature at any state. (Go to suspend)
	DISABLE	:Disable LID feature at any state. (Do not go to suspend)
 
	When you choose "AUTO" mode, you can use your computer with "DIABLE" 
	mode at docking state and when you change to undocking state, you 
	can use it with "ENABLE" mode.

>LID switch group box:
	AUTO		Enable LID feature at undocking state.  (Go to suspend)	 
			Disable LID feature at docking state. (Do not go to suspend)
	ENABLE	  	Enable LID feature at any state. (Go to suspend)
	DISABLE		Disable LID feature at any state. (Do not go to suspend)

>Display device group box:
	LCD button	Display only a LCD panel.
	CRT button	Display only an external monitor.
	BOTH button	Display both an external monitor and a LCD panel.
	Automatic CRT mode	This utility always set CRT mode, when you execute it
				and system resumes from suspend mode with external 
				monitor.
				Default setting of Automatic CRT mode is ON.
>System menu:
		Move
		Close
		Show this utility icon on task tray
		Version Information

		When you choose "Show this utility icon on task tray", you
		can hide this dialog and show this utility icon on task tray. 


<Hot key>
	You can use hot key that is "Shift + Alt + BackSpace".
	This hot key changes LCD mode, CRT mode and BOTH mode.


6. Notice

Once you use this utility, the settings are kept in "C:\WINDOWS\LIDDISPC.INI". 
Therefore when this utility starts next time, the settings are as they were set 
last time.

<Display device>
Don't close this utility on CRT mode.
	-> When you close this utility on CRT mode,
	LCD becomes black after resuming without connecting an external monitor.

	When you close this utility on CRT mode, it changes BOTH mode at safety.
<LID switch>
(1) You can not use this utility with "Standby timeout".
(2) Until this utility is started, LID close goes to suspend.
