     
                        Installing Fast IR
     
Fast IR communicates at speeds up to 4MB.  It requires IRQ3 or IRQ4 and a DMA channel.

System Installation Requirements:

HP OmniBook Sojourn with Windows 95 version 4.00.950 C installed.  
The Windows 95 version can be verified by looking at the system properties 
(Start/Settings/Control Panel/System/).

HP Omnibook Sojourn Fast IR drivers for Windows 95.  These drivers are located on the hard disk in
C:\OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\WIN95\FIR. These drivers are also located on the HP OmniBook Sojourn 
Recovery CD in the \OMNIBOOK\DRIVERS\WIN95\FIR directory.

To install IrDA support, you need to complete the following three steps:
	* Remove existing IrDA support.
	* Setup IR Port.
	* Install IR Support for Windows 95

To remove existing IrDA support:
--------------------------------     
1.  Remove the IR Monitor
        - In the Control Panel, run Add/Remove Programs.
        - If present, highlight "Infrared Support for Windows 95 Version 2.0". 
        - Click the "Add/Remove" button to remove it.  
        - Restart the computer when prompted to do so.
       
To setup IR port:
------------------
1.  Start Setup Utility
        - Restart the computer.
        - Press F2 during the reboot to enter Setup Utility. 
2.  In BIOS SETUP, Enable IR Port
	- Select "Advance" submenu.
        - Under "I/O Device Configuration" find the "Serial Port B:" 
        - Set the Serial Port B to "Auto".
     	- Set Mode to "FIR".
3.  Exit SETUP, saving the changes.  ("Exit", "Save Changes and Exit", Yes)

To install IR Support for Windows 95:
-------------------------------------              
1.  Check the serial driver
        - In the Control Panel, run "System". 
        - Click the "Device Manager" tab.
        - Double-click "Ports (COM & LPT)".
        - Verify that the "Fast Infrared Commucation Port" is present.
     
5.  Install the IR Monitor
-----------------------------------------
        - In the Control Panel, run Add New Hardware Wizard.
	- Click "Next" button.
	- Select "No" and Click on the "Next" button.
        - Click "Infrared" for the Hardware type and click on "Next"
	- Click "Have Disk" and enter "C:\omnibook\drivers\win95\fir", location of fast IR drivers.
        - Click "Next".
	- Select "Fast Infrared Communication Port (COM2) and click next.
        - Click "Next" to use the default ports (COM4 and LPT3).
	- Select "c:\Windows\options\cabs" to copy files from and click "OK"
        - Click "Finish" to exit the "Add Infrared Device Wizard".
	- Restart Windows.
	- In the Control Panel, double click on the infrared icon to enable IR communications.
