This is release 0.9 of the PSSJ Digital Sound Toolkit. 18-Oct-94

The PDST is a collection of library functions and sample programs that
operate the sound hardware that is present in many computers manufactured
by Tandy between 1988 and 1993.

The files are divided into these directories:

libdoc - Contains the documentation on the library functions in
troff/nroff format as well as in formatted pages.
You should read "intro" before doing anything else with the
          library functions.

demosrc - Source code for the demonstration programs. These are
self-documenting and include complete programs to record sounds
to disk and play them back.

demobin - Demo programs and libraries in compiled form.

libsrc - Library source code and include files.

libbin - Library object code

sample - Audio sample files

The core of the library routines have been unchanged for a few years
and the recent additions have been unchanged for several months. The
software has been tested on several different platforms and all of
the different PSSJ chipsets that Tandy produced.

Modules that are binary in form have been compressed using PKZIP,
then uuencoded, then split into 800-line chunks. These must be
re-assembled, and uudecoded before PKUNZIP -d can be used to recover
the original contents. The finished .UUE files (before PKUNZIP) should
have the following sizes:

demobin.uue 149830 creates demobin/*.* Executable demo programs
sample.uue 74379 creates sample/*.* Sample audio recordings
libbin.uue 54419 creates libbin/*.* Library Objects
ps.uue 202049 creates ps/*.* Postscript documentation
cat.uue 72512 created cat/*.* Formatted documentation

This release is considered to be complete but probably has minor errors
or omissions in the documentation. If you have any corrections or
there are areas that need additional information or clarification, please
send your comments and suggestions to uhclem@nemesis.lonestar.org

This entire package is copyrighted. There are restrictions on resale
and commercial use, but that is about it. See the intro.[ps/n/cat]
file for details.

Based on feedback, an updated release will be made around the end of
the year.

Have fun!
