1. INTRODUCTION
 
Primes is an optimised PalmOS program which can find the prime factors and closest primes of any integer number up to one billion (US) in a few seconds or less.

2. MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Any Palm or compatible PDA running PalmOS V3.0 or later

3. LICENCE AGREEMENT

You should carefully read the following terms and conditions before using this software.  Your use of this software indicates your acceptance of this licence agreement and disclaimer.

Primes is distributed and may be used free of charge. It may be given away to anyone, included on CD-ROM libraries, uploaded to WWW pages, ftp sites and bulletin boards, etc. etc. as long as it is distributed in its complete original unmodified form. No direct fee may be charged for its distribution. A nominal delivery charge may be applied to cover the raw material cost of media and shipping costs, if applicable.

There are no restrictions to the number of computers on which this version of Primes may be installed.

5. INSTALLATION

Primes is distributed as a compressed ZIP file Primes.zip

  Install Primes as follows:

  1) Use Winzip (www.winzip.com), or compatible program to 
     extract the contents of Primes.zip to your desktop PC.

  2) Use the Palm Desktop Install tool to load the file:

     Primes.prc 

     onto your Palm via the HotSync connection to your PC.

  3) Start Primes by tapping the Primes icon

6. OPERATION

Enter a number from 2 to 999,999,999 inclusive (without the commas). 

Press the Factors button to display the prime factors. For example, the factors of 30 are shown as:

 2
 3
 5

If a factor occurs several times it is listed once with the number of occurrences shown. For example, the factors of 27 are shown as:

 3    (*3)

Press the Primes button to find prime numbers. If the number is a prime it will be shown as:

 13    Prime

If it isn't prime, then two closest prime numbers (one less than, one greater than, the number) are displayed. For example, the primes shown for 15 are:

 13    Prime
 17    Prime
