                         RDS -- Report Directory Size
                                 Version 1.20a
                                Copr. 1986-1989

Use this program to easily find out the size of a directory
(and optionally all of its subdirectories) and to see if they
will fit on another drive. Use the syntax of:

        -------------------------------------------------------------
        RDS [drive:][path] [/S or -S] [/V or -V] [/T or -t] [/drive:]
        -------------------------------------------------------------

        [drive:][path] directory to report on.

/S toggles the option of whether RDS should include all the
subdirectories of the directory named (or current). By default,
        subdirectories are NOT automatically included.

/V toggles the verbosity level. RDS, by default, will give a
        brief report.

        /T toggles between "file-size" and "true-file-size" modes.
File-size mode shows the number of bytes in all the files and
true-file-size shows disk space occupied by all files.

        /drive: (for example: /a:)
Check named drive (colon MUST appear) to see if files will fit.
RDS makes a decision based on free space on specified drive and
on its cluster size. File sizes will be displayed in file-size
mode but RDS will internally use true-file-size mode to
determine if they will fit. [Note: RDS ignores the amount of
space used by DOS to store directory listings itself.]

        Example command line:

        	C:\ASM\RDS>rds \123\wks /s/v/b:

This command will report on the actual file sizes of all
the files in the \123\WKS directory (and all of its subdirector-
ies) on drive C: and also report if the files will fit on drive
        B:.

        Changes from 1.0c to 1.10:
Routine to figure out total number of clusters on disk fixed.

        Changes from 1.10 to 1.20:
True mode and space check on another drive added. Long path
name bug eradicated. Other minor enhancements.

        Changes from 1.20 to 1.20a:
A few minor adjustments to suit my tastes.

        Known problem:
RDS will incorrectly report disk capacity for a CD-ROM drive.
This is because a CD-ROM can hold more than the original
designers of DOS anticipated. I have not had to time to find
out how the CD-ROM calls work (or even what they are).
Hopefully, the next release will have this corrected.
