Mr. Machinist README.TXT file. (08-26-96)
===========================================

Welcome to the Mr. Machinist Program!

Mr. Machinist is an easy-to-use menu driven math program designed to
solve manufacturing related problems and teach manufacturing related
formulas and principles. The Mr. Machinist program is quickly becoming
a standard in the industry. It is used by all types of manufacturers
from major corporations to family owned machine shops in barns and
basements. It also has widespread use in many colleges and high schools
across the country.

The mission of F1 Computing is to continually evolve Mr. Machinist into a
program that will meet the needs of the manufacturing community at large
while at the same time teach it's users the calculations and methods used
in the industry today.

Always read this README.TXT file when you receive an up-graded version
of the Mr. Machinist program. Changes in the program may not be
documented in the manual!

This new version can only be run on 286 systems with 2megs or more of RAM.
There will be a Mr. Machinist 'Lite' version out in the later part of
December or early January of 1996 that will run on any DOS computer. Be sure
to continually check the Internet Mr. Machinist Home Page at:

http://www.flash.net/~fone

From there you can download the latest versions.

This latest version includes G-code creation of the bolt circle function,
tapping information, fixed a bug in the 3 points on a circle function where
the radius was being rounded off to the nearest whole number in some 1.10
versions, more information has been added to the help file, a file
called SFM.TXT has been added where the user can edit surface feeds of
different types of materials. There has also been a bug fix in the creation
of Bolt Circle G-Code. There used to be a 150 hole limit if it was exceeded
the system would lock-up. Now there is a 1000 hole limit with an error box
if that number is exceeded.

There has also been a powerful Formula function added to the 'Options' menu.
There were some Engineers, Machinist, and Students who wanted to know what
formulas were being used to get the answers to the Mr. Machinist functions.
They wanted to know how to do them long handed, without a computer. Virtually
every math function that can be explained using a formula of some sort that
is used in this program can now be written to a text file on your computer!

There is even a choice in that menu where you can write all of the formulas
to a file. The file is called, 'FORMULA.TXT'. Be aware that the un-registered
version has limitations to this function. The formula function in registered
versions is totally functional.

The SFM file is put to use by any G-code creation function.

If you downloaded this program from a BBS then your compressed file will
have all of the files listed below except the installation programs and it
will most likely not be the latest version. Contact the Home Page on the
Internet for the latest version or get in touch with F1 Computing.

Installation programs are only used when Mr. Machinist is sent through the
mail by the author.

Files included in the Mr. Machinist System are:

INSTALL.EXE
FILES.TXT
MRMORDER.DOC
SFM.TXT
README.TXT
READMRM.EXE
DPMIUSER.DOC
RTMRES.EXE
DPMIINST.EXE
DPMI16BI.OVL
RTM.EXE
MRMHELP.HLP
MRM.EXE
MRMANUAL.DOC

Use the install program to copy files from each disk to your hard drive. Any
other method of copying should be done using DOS commands. The two files
that are absolutely needed to run MRM is MRM.EXE and MRM.OVR. These two
files must be in the same directory. You could run the MRM.EXE without the
help file but you would get an error message when ever you tried to receive
help.

To get the full potential of MRM you should read the manual. You will not
be able to see all that the program can do in only one session. The best way
to get familiar with MRM is to read the manual.

If you upload Mr. Machinist to a BBS, please be sure that your uploading the
un-registered version!!! Include all files listed above except the install
programs. The install programs are only used by registered users who copy
files from disks.

Please be sure that the compressed file includes all of the files listed
above, no more, no less.

Running this Protected Mode version will create the need for a 286 or
greater processor with at least 2 megs of RAM! Check with F1 Computing
for the 'Lite' version that is soon to be released. It will run on slower
computers with no extended memory.

Another advantage of using this DPMI version is that when you do a DOS shell
you will have a great amount of free RAM.

Thank you, God bless you and your family, and please register software that
you use continually.
