                ASW-1410 Rev. 1.2 - README.TXT - 12/11/89
                           ASPI MS-DOS Manager
                          with ASPI Disk Module
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Currently, there are a couple of restrictions when using ASW-1410:

1.) To run ASPI4DOS.SYS under Windows 386, you must use the '/w' command
line switch as described in the installation guide. This will take
64K of RAM from main memory. The next release of the driver will
most likely have the option of using extended memory.

2.) While running Windows 386, it is not recommended to partition your disk
with AFDISK.EXEC. Any application program which communicates
directly with the ASPI interface has the same limitation.
NOTE: Drivers such as ASPIDISK.SYS will work fine under Windows 386
as long as the ASPI4DOS.SYS '/w' command line switch is used. Refer
      to the installation guide.

3.) ASPI4DOS.SYS will not work with programs which load device drivers
      into extended memory.

4.) To format a drive being controlled by ASPIDISK.SYS (ie. a SCSI drive
other than the first two drives in your system), you must use
AFDISK to format it. The standard DOS Format utility will not work.
This is only true if you are using ASPIDISK.SYS.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Currently, Adaptec is enhancing this software package to support the
limitations which are described above. We thank you for your patience.
