III. ADDITIONAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
-----------------------------------------

Software:
---------

Presentation Manager - The Presentation Manager Driver disk contains
640 x 480, 720 x 540, 800 x 600, 1024 x 768 (all 16 color) and 640 x
480 256 color drivers for PM v1.2. Drivers for PM v1.1 are available
by contacting our Customer Service.

For ease of installation, when you install the VGA 1024i Presentation
Manager drivers, boot your system using a DOS boot disk. Using an
OS/2 boot disk will require that you swap the VGA 1024i P.M. disk and
the OS/2 disk several times as OS/2 looks for the CMD.EXE file.
Correct installation will occur with either method.

Ventura Publisher - follow the instructions below for installation.
They differ somewhat from the instructions on page 55 of the User's
Manual.

To install Ventura Publisher 1.1 type:

	  VPINST_1 <Enter>

To install Ventura Publisher 2.0 type:

	  VPINST_2 <Enter>

Windows/286 - due to disk space considerations the 640 x 450
16-color driver is not on the VGA 1024i Utility Disk #1 as
documented in the manual.
Hardware
--------

With the VGA 1024i, we have designed a board that is capable
of operating with 16-bit BIOS access enabled while only using
the standard memory addresses (C000 - C7FF) used in an 8-bit
BIOS mode. This feature, called "tight decode" may conflict
with your system if the timing of your computer system is
sensitive to the timing used by the VGA 1024i when in 16-bit
tight decode mode.

Indications of timing incompatibilities include pixel drop-out,
missing characters or the inability to do a warm boot.	If you
experience any difficulties you should first try setting
Switch 6 on the VGA 1024i to OFF. This switch is accessible
from the rear of the computer without removing the card.
This forces the VGA 1024i into an 8-bit BIOS mode and may
eliminate the timing problem. Reboot your system for the
change to take effect.

Remember, forcing 8-bit BIOS mode generally has no effect on
performance, especially of graphics software, which generally
by-passes the BIOS and writes directly to the hardware.
Additionally, 386-based machines that "shadow" the BIOS
into 32-bit RAM more than compensate for forcing 8-bit BIOS mode
on the VGA 1024i.

If you still experience problems you may have to remove your
VGA 1024i card and disable Jumper E2, move the shunt to pins
2 and 3. This completely disables the tight decode and the
16-bit BIOS mode requires memory locations C000 - DFFF.
Depending on your computer configuration (whether you have a
device that is relocatable out of the C000 and D000 segments)
you may have to set Switch 6 OFF (not relocatable) or can set
Switch 6 ON (configure your device above the D000 segment).
Running V7DIAG will inform you where in memory you may have
another device residing.

Special System Installation Instructions
----------------------------------------

(supplemental to the instructions in the User's Manual)

Amdek 286 - Move the VGA 1024i Jumper E2 to pins 2 and 3

Epson Equity II+ - When running at 12MHz move the VGA 1024i
Jumper E2 to pins 2 and 3. Set Switch 6 to OFF.
