OPERATION: SWOTL
BY GEN. C.G. STEPHENS, USAAC

Flyers, you have a mission. That is to rip the heart out of the Third Reich and eat it. Your three main weapons will be flying skill, marksmanship, tactics and ruthless efficiency. Uh, that is, four main weapons.

As for tactics, people, you need to know which targets are the most vital when running a campaign battle. Here is the list, straight from intelligence, in order of importance. See the accompanying campaign map, "Hitler's Europe," for locations.

Oil Refineries:
1. Leuna (13 percent)
2. Duisburg (9 percent)
3. Bohlen (9 percent)
4. Hamburg (9 percent)

Munitions:
1. Berlin (8 percent)
2. Essen (8 percent)
3. Dortmund (8 percent)
4. Dusseldorf (7 percent)
5. Duisburg (7 percent)
6. Munster (7 percent)
7. Frankfurt (7 percent)
8. Mannheim (7 percent)
9. Hamburg (7 percent)

Ball Bearings:
1. Schweinfurt (81 percent -- really!)
2. Berlin (9 percent)

Railway Centers:
1. Schwerte (12 percent)
2. Mainz (8 percent)
3. Frankfurt (8 percent)
4. Cologne (8 percent)
5. Hanover (8 percent)
6. Koblenz (8 percent)

Research:
1. Peenemunde (45 percent -- kill it!)
2. Lechfeld (27 percent)
3. Augsburg (18 percent)
4. Gottingen (9 percent)

There are, of course, other types of factories on the map. Ignore them. Campaign goals clearly state that the only truly important targets are oil, munitions, ball bearings and railway centers, along with research centers (which crank out those "wonder weapons") and airfields equipped with German gruppes.

Be sure to bomb a variety of targets each campaign day, to keep the Germans from building up too much of a reserve in any one thing.

(Author's Note: I designed this "briefing" and captured the accompanying 804x681x256 campaign map in GIF format mainly just as a fun project, but it may help people who want tips on how to win a SWOTL campaign. Though geared for the American side, this also shows players interested in directing the Germans which targets are most critical to defend. Have fun!)
