~Shadowcaster CD

SHADOWCASTER CD
---------------
(By Origin)

A long awaited cheat for the CD Version From John Johnson-Apoo,
with additional comments from Lu Richardson.

The bits to change in the CD version are in a different area from
the floppy version. Use NU on the game.sav file as usual and go to:

HEX TYPE
3790 FF - This makes Kirt's hands incredibly powerful.
37A4 FF - This puts up Kirt's MANA & HIT POINTS in the thousands.

Now go ahead, all you gamers, slay the beasties and uphold right and
might.
                       Enjoy, J.J.A.

From Lu Richardson:

I tried this excellent cheat of John's and at first it did not
work. After consulting with him we both realized the hex numbers
change according to where you save your game; therefore, we agreed
that the best thing would be for you to look at around those offsets
for the number 02 and, a little further on, a 01. These are the
numbers you change to FF.

Myself, I saved right at the beginning, before the beast begins to
charge, and changed the first 02 I came to in that area and the next
01. As John had predicted, the first "surge" put my points sky high
and, moreover, one clout was enough to floor every beast I came to.
Of course, the magic and hit points on the screen were at first low,
but they soon crept up.

John explained he did not need to alter the other "shapes" points,
since Kirt is so powerful. Indeed, with the shuriken in one hand
and nothing in the other, he was unstoppable. You'll need to use
the odd wand here and there to eliminate beasts you can't reach with
the shuriken, but that's about it.

The other shapes you use only when you have to, to move around
awkward places and to carry extra loot. The Caun is also useful to
heal Kirt when you are running low on hit points.

If you want to alter the hit points of your other shapes, save the
game and immediately click on the red line to find out the number of
hit points. Convert that to hexadecimal and, using the NU editor,
look at your saved game (copy it elsewhere first) and search for
those numbers. They should be somewhere around the same offsets
(3000's plus) as above. Be warned that if you click on the bar and
you get, say, 203, the number could well be 200, 201 or 202, since
by the very fact that you've clicked on the bar, time has passed and
you've probably gained a few points.

Finally, the CD version of Shadowcaster contains more levels and I,
for one, am very grateful to John for his cheat, which allowed me
to breeze through and enjoy this game all over again. I can't help
the feeling that if only I could have found a pair of boxing gloves
along the way I could have done even more damage!
