Where can I find the CMOS setup program for a Tandy 1000/SX? The
system was donated to us, but this program is not on the HD.

Also, can any of the ports on this machine be used as a standard
serial port? It doesn't appear to work with LapLink.

This is an 8088 based machine and has no setup
program....

You will have to make a boot disk to boot from
drive A and then format and set up the harddrive.

It originally used DOS 3.1 but most of us upgraded
to DOS 3.3 There is no use going to a later version of DOS
because the machine really has no use for their commands and just
takes up more memory.

Used one for more years than I want to think
about!!!!!

Robert Runyan, gave you the dope on the CMOS, and that there is
no SETUP program for this machine. He forgot to tell you that
the port that looks like a serial port, is in fact not a serial
port but instead a light pen port. You will have to add an IO
card to the expansion port, which includes a serial and printer
port. I highly recommend this if you are going to be using the
computer. The new IO cards are capable of handling very high
speeds, plus you will now have a 25 pin printer port instead of
the card edge printer port that came with the computer. That
card edge printer port is prone to get dirty and the printer card
cable slides off of the card edge very easily.

Remember to set the additional parallel port if you
install it to LPT-2 as there is no way to disable the onboard
parallel port.

He is correct in advising that there is a light pen
port on the rear, not a serial port. (Albet there are a few of
us that rewired it to make a serial port!!) Don't tell everyone
this or we will never live it down....

Thanks Robert,

I've got just such an IO card here, and will pop it in a
slot.
