I have a 386 Tandy 2500sx / 25. It has 12 megs of memory, 80 meg
Hd, 1-3.5" disk, 1-5.25 disk, and according to a couple of test
disks it is about as fast as a 486. The serial number is 014280,
configuration 25-1610.
Is it possible to delete the 5.25 drive and install a CD disk
drive with out too many problems. If so which unit do you think
would work. This machine has been very stable and I am very happy
with it.

A 2500 as fast as a 486? Not likely, but go ahead and dream...

Anyway-yes you can install a CD-rom drive either internal or
external.
I have a friend with the same machine and she has an external 2X
drive. Works fine, but don't forget to use a memory manager
after you install the drivers or your programs will be starved
for that ol' 640 k ram.

Thankyou Russ for the info. As far as the speed is concerned I am
going by what a test program is telling me and this was confirmed
by a gurur's program. Othe than that I do not know. Do you have
any recomendations as to a unit that will work. It has been
suggested that an 8 speed would fit in the 5.25' frame work area.
I know nothing about CD's but I am learning.

As far as what CD Roms will work with your computer-I suggest
getting a package with everything included such as Creative Labs.
