Hi, all--

A friend of a friend (!) has recently acquired a Tandy SL1000,
and is having problems getting the thing to boot properly.

Specifically, it boots to a point, and then stops with the
somewhat cryptic error message "ERR ID:PORT 378H".

Does *anybody* have any idea what this means, and how to convince
the machine to get a little farther down the bootstrap path?

TIA,

--Bill

Bill,

I'm not familiar with the 1000/SL, but Port 378H is normally part of
the parallel printer #1 port. At a first stab, disconnect the printer cable
and reboot. It sounds like you're booting into the ROM Deskmate. Try a
DOS system diskette in the floppy drive to bypass the on-board boot. A
printer problem should not freeze a _normal_ power-up sequence.

Barry--

Thanks for the lead--we'll take a look at a floppy boot and see
what she says!

Thanks again,
