I have and old Tandy 1000 TL/2 in our learning lab. The existing
floppy drive is going south, and I'm looking to replace it.

Does this machine support 1.44Mb floppies?

If not any suggestions for a replacement floppy drive?

Thanks for any ideas.

Kent, the TL/2 is too slow to use a 1.44 drive, however if you
can get an adapter which allows a 1.44 drive to work in an XT
style computer, you can use the floppy drive along with the
adapter.

Thanks Robert,

I didn't know if I'd even "find anyone home" here. (<g>)

Nonsense! I have a 1.44M floppy work perfectly in an 8088 PC.
Processor/system speed of any computer built since the late 70s
is plenty fast enough to write to a 3.5 or 5.25 inch high density
floppy drive -- including Radio Shack's TRS-80 Model I.

The problem with some Tandys and high density drives is that the
built-in double density floppy drive controllers are not
compatible with high density drives and cannot be disabled to
allow a replacement controller to operate properly.
