There were many versions of the 1000. Most were XT's with 640 k
limits.
The 1000TX was not an XT but was a 286 with 768 k limit. The
memory expansion is still available at some Radio shacks. This
allows you to load Dos High in some configs.

I don't know anything about Desktop. Never used it. When I get
old Tandys, I put Dos 5.0 in them and a simple menu program. I
don't bother with them if they have no Hard Drive, they are just
donor machines to me.

Russell,

I tried to upgrade my DOS from 3.2 to 3.3 on my Tandy 1000TX,
640K, 20 meg hard card. When I did this the A: drive would not
format at 720K anymore. It would format at 360K. I used PC
Tools to look at the equipment setup, and it told me that I had
two 360K floppies. I called Tandy's 1-800 number, and they told
me I had to add some "drivparm" to either my config.sys or
autoexec.bat files. Does this sound familiar to you? I would
like to upgrade to 3.3 and get a 1.44 meg floppy instead of the
720 K. Will I have the same problem? Is the drivparm the
answer?

Warren

Sent you message via Mail.
But-use setbpb35.exe instead of drivparm
1000tx will not support 1.44 meg fd
why not upgrade to dos 5 or 6.2-they will work fine.
