There is an easier answer.
If your new computer has Dos 6.2 capablilities ( you can even
just use a boot disk), you can link your two computers together
with interlink.exe and intersvr.exe.

You can do it with a laplink cable for LPT or Com ports.

Hook the two machines together.
run intersvr.exe on the slave machine
Boot the master machine with the following line in the
config.sys
  DEVICE=C:\DOS\INTERLNK.EXE     (or whatever the path to it is)

Your master machine will recognize the slave as just another set
of drives and you will be able to copy your files over the link.


I use this program a lot-one of the many undocumented Dos
functions.
It does not care what version of Dos you are using either.  I
have used it with Dos 3.1 to 6.2
