What's LShare?

Well, LShare is a simple communication programme which uses Unbounded Datagram Packets (UDP) to communicate on IP networks. It has a simple and funny interface mostly designed in Adobe Photoshop and of course MS Paint. I called it 0.9 because it still needs a lot of work to be perfect.

Who needs it?

May be you need it. In most homes, there are more than one computers which are connected to each with the most popular protocol, TCP/IP. If these PC's are far from each other, then you neet it. Although this example is quite simple, you can use LShare on every network, even internet, without much work.

What do I need?

You need 2 or more computers running MS Windows 9x, NT or 2000(*) And of course these computers should be connected to each other through TCP/IP connections. Also you need a keyboard and a monitor. I've tested it without mouse, not practical but still works.

Is it safe?

Well, no programme in MS environments can be counted as "safe". Do not ask me "Why?", try Bill Gates. However, this programme is one of the safests. I even offer you complete source code, so that you can check any trojans, etc and compile yours. Of course send me an e-mail about the modifications you do.

How does it work?

Simple. Run LShare. If configuration files are missing, LShare will create them in your side. After this process, you have to options:
1. Manually enter all single IP's you want to communicate
2. Enter a generic (multicast) IP (like 192.168.0.255 which covers all IP's beginning with 192.168.0.*)
3. Press "Run"
Now send a message to test your network. In the beginning, LShare comes with your IP configured in it. If you mix things up too much, stop program, simply delete COMPLIST.INI and start again. Only your IP will be entered then.
After initial checks and you see listening message, go to the edit box in the top of the window and write down something. Press ENTER key or "OK" button. Your message will be sent.

What if something goes wrong?

First of all, LShare cannot format your harddrive. There is no such harmfull code in it. However, if something seems to be going wrong, stop LShare and drop me an e-mail giving every detail.

What about source code?

If you want source code, just send me an e-mail and tell me that you liked my programme so much. (Sorry, but this is what I enjoy so much) After reading your mail, I'll eagerly send you the source code and all other things needed to compile. And may be some documentation. That's all I can do.

What can I expect in final release?

All tools you need in your local network. Shared whiteboard, file repository, music and may be TV broadcasts, and as a side release, o PC Classroom control software, which teacher broadcasts knowledge :) Well, that's all for now.

Who are you?
Me? I'm, well, go and check my website, http://www.geocities.com/udemirhan. There you can find much about me. More than I can say.

I want to thank you.
Oh, thanks, I enjoy programming, but if you want to thank me in face, you must come to Turkey, Izmir (for now). Try ICQ: 34648582 and even my phone: +90 535 2461356. I will be glad to help you in any way.
