Readme for RemConn 2.12

Description
-----------
RemConn was designed to allow users without Operator or Supervisor rights to clear NetWare connections from multiple servers. This can be extremely useful in an environment with many servers where users are restricted to a single logon. A list of servers that you pre-determine are checked for the connection and clears it if found - you don't have to know or guess which server(s) to clear the connection from. RemCon is comprised of 2 programs, a "client" program, used to make the request to clear the connection and a "server" program to process the request. The "server" program runs on PC logged in with Operator or Supervisor rights to the servers to be accessed. This can be an NT server, NT workstation or Win9X computer. The "server" processes the requests from the "client(s)". After the request is processed, the "client" is informed with the results and the transaction logged.

RemConn 2.12 is Shareware. You have 30 days in which to evaluate it. Use of RemConn beyond 30 days requires registration. RemConn is freely distributable.

Security
---------

The log file records the time/date, user requesting the connection clear and the servers that the connection was cleared from. Some things that can help prevent unauthorized users from gaining access:

1) Place the "server" program on a system in a controlled environment.
2) Before installing the software, create a work directory and restrict the rights to the directory to only those that you want to have access.

Installation
------------

From Explorer, select Setup from the directory that you extracted the zip file to. If you get an error "access violation while copying" while installing, it most likely means that one of the supporting files in setup already exists. You should select "Ignore" and continue with the install.

Setup
------

Both the "client" and "server" program must have the same work directory.

Both the "client" and "server" program must have RIGHTS to read and write from the work directory.

Both the "client" and "server" program requires that Novell Netware Client 32 or Client NT be installed. If you experience problems, make sure that you are running the latest Novell client, available at http://support.novell.com.

Select the servers to be scanned for connections in the "server" program.

2.11 fixes
----------

Fixed bug that failed to get NDS user object info.
Fixed bug that caused program to misinterrupt setup directory names.
Fixed problem in client notification.

Known Issues
-----------------

1) After installation and setup you must exit the program and restart it to get it to work properly. This is true for both the client and server programs.
2) If one of the servers being scanned for a username is really slow, client requests to clear users can stack up and possibly clear the user connection after the user's timeout has expired and the user has logged back on.
3) The previous version (1.10) on rare occasions would get stuck in a loop, continually clearing the same connections until the program was terminated. Reinstalling the program on another machine eliminated this problem, which may indicate a problem with the previous machine.
4) Changes to a workstation caused the client program to exit when clicking the OK button on the Results form. This most likely was caused by a memory problem on the workstation.
