Welcome to the SpinStation BPM Checker!

This program will let you check the number of beats per minute
for any song in your collection. All you have to do is start the
music playing, launch the ssbpm.exe program and adjust the number
of beats per minute until it matches the tempo of the song being
played. (It's easier to do it than it is to explain!)

System Requirements
===================
1. Windows 95/98 or Windows NT 3.51 or higher
2. A windows sound card with General MIDI support (most modern sound cards have this).

Installation
============
Copy the ssbpm.exe file to a directory of your choice. That's it!

Freeware License
================
This program is "Freeware" which means you can use it on as many
computers as you want, copy it and give it to all your friends or
post it on the internet, as long as you:
1. DO NOT modify any of the files.
2. Keep all the files together as a package.
3. DO NOT charge any money for the program (other than the cost of blank disks, etc).
4. DO NOT distribute this program as part of a commercial application.
Read License.txt for all the details.

Keyboard Equivalents
====================
Increase BPM by 1.00 beats per minute:	PageUp
Decrease BPM by 1.00 beats per minute:	PageDown
Increase BPM by 0.01 beats per minute:	SHIFT+PageUp
Decrease BPM by 0.01 beats per minute:	SHIFT+PageDown
Restart "clicker":			ENTER
Pause "clicker":			Num Pad "0"

Helpful Hints
=============
Close down any unnecessary programs while the SpinStation BPM
Checker is running. Some programs hog the CPU and will
interfere with the accurate timing needed to get a good BPM count.
Disable screensavers with lots of graphics or sound capability
(especially the OpenGL screensavers) as these will hog the CPU.

If you are playing the song from a turntable or CD player with pitch
control, make sure the pitch is set to "0".

Use the ENTER key after you have changed the tempo or to "sync up"
with the song that is playing.

You can change the MIDI device used, the sound of the instrument used
for the "clicks" or the volume of the "clicks" by pressing the
"Settings" button.

The range of the SpinStation BPM Checker is from 50 to 300 BPM.

Support
=======
Since this thing is free, you basically get what you pay for ;) If you
do run into any problems, you can send email to support@spinstation.com
and we will try to fix it. Of course most of our time is devoted to our
commercial software package SpinStation Pro...

SpinStation Pro
===============
The SpinStation Pro software is serious software designed for
professional DJs. Here are just a few of the features:

1. All songs are stored on your computer's hard disk. No crates of
   records or CDs to carry around, EVER!
2. Songs are compressed using the industry standard MP3 compressor.
   This results in over 2,000 songs being stored on a standard 8Gig
   hard disk with true CD quality.
3. A fully searchable database allows you to select the song to
   play based on name, artist, genre, tempo, riddim, key or any
   criteria you can come up with.
4. Support for 2 (or more!) sound cards allow for TRUE mixing
   capability. Each player has a fully adjustable real-time pitch
   control with a range of +/- 12%
5. Up to 10 cue points per song. Since each cue point is stored in
   the database, you set the point once and it is remembered forever!
   All cue points play back with absolutely NO LAG!
6. Lot's of automatic features like auto-pitch (automatically checks
   the BPM of the song playing and adjusts the pitch of the song on
   cue to match it), auto-chorus (flange, quarter beat & half beat).
7. "HOT-LIST" feature allows IMMEDIATE playback of up to 10 songs by
   pressing a single button. This makes special effects and jingles
   a breeze.
8. Available as software only, or in configured systems where
   you just plug it in and start to play!
9. Configured systems are available in "hardened" cases designed
   to take the abuse of a professional DJ.
10. ALL systems are very reliable and very affordable.
