Install Instructions
Requires Windows 95 or later, or Windows NT 4 or later. If you are using
Windows NT 4, you should have Service Pack 3 or greater installed.

Close running programs
extract and run setup
You may be asked to reboot pc after you run setup the first time.
This is normal (it registers vb ocx's and dll's)(Win98 already has them).

You may need to get the vb5 runtimes:
 http://www.simtel.net/simtel.net/win95/dll.html
 http://www.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/win95/dll/vb500a.zip
or
 ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/win95/dll/
 ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/win95/dll/vb500a.zip

You may also need to get the ComCtl32 Redistributables:
 http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads/sdks/platform/redist.asp

Tips
____________________

Do not put FileAnt in your Startup folder... use the "Configure" menu.

Read version.txt.. it is informative.

Read the online help especially for how to use the tools, info bar and pie.

Try double clicking "White Space" or double clicking the tab to go up a folder.

Use the right mouse button a bit. (tabs, white space, files, folders etc).

The File manager has many different layout combinations...

New Tools and Viewer features will be added over time.

You can add what ever extensions you like to the OLE Viewer and FileAnt
will try to embed the file in itself. If the files default program does
not support this you will just see an icon.

"dont clear ScreenSavers" in the viewer menu will run screensavers over
the top of one another uncheck this to clean them up when finished
playing around. (hey i was bored!!).

If you want something added, changed fixed..
Tell me on the comments page... ("hmmmmm..." in the menu)
and i will do my best.

Enjoy.

A bit of an opinion

Win98 2nd Ed. is still the most useful and reliable operating system i have seen..
(i use this) (as do most people who have visited my web site)
WinNT has a 32-bit Design.. but no good support for new computer hardware and older software.
Win 2000 still has 65,000 bugs 32,000 (major)... (for those who like to live in fear).
<0.1% of people who visit my web site use linix.. I may have a play one day.

Programming Languages.. What ever does the job the way you want it done.
VB5 is still a lot better than VB6 in my opinion.. i use VB6 @ work.
I also code in C++, Java, and other languages & scripts.
