HotCrypt
Version: 4.0
Date: 30.09.2001

HotCrypt is a text encryption program for Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000.
Running minimized to an icon in the System Tray (or even invisible at all), it lets you make any text within any window unreadable for other people.

HotCrypt was developed especially for keeping e-mail messages hidden from "prying eyes", but it can be used for protecting any text in virtually any window.

You just press a hotkey (or click the menu item), then enter an encryption password - and the text in your window becomes encrypted.
To read a previously encrypted message (or any other text) do exactly the same: press the hotkey and enter the password. If the password is correct, the special HotCrypt's viewer will pop-up, showing the original text.

Other features:
-Reliable encryption algorithm (Blowfish)
-Password management system
-Invisible mode
-PCtoPC encryption (encryption with hardware identification)
-Login authorization on startup
-Multi-user support
-File encryption

New in this version (4.0):
-Nearly any key (or combination of keys) can be selected as the "encryption/decryption hotkey" now - including function keys. The default hotkey for encryption/decryption is F9.
-Invisible mode (toggled by "Ctrl+Q" by default). Lots of requests answered with this feature.
-HotCrypt's viewer completely re-designed, many new features included (font selection, page setup, print etc)
-User interface improved
-All reported problems removed

Important note: Due to US regulations concerning encryption software export, this version of HotCrypt limits password length to 5 characters (40 bits encryption). In the registered version, passwords can be up to 56 characters long (448 bits encryption).
