Purpose of ASHE - A Scripted Hex Editor.

ASHE's purpose is to automate repetitive changes to data files.

It started out as a fairly mild mannered hex editor, then we added scripting using another of our products, the Xlang10 scripting library.
This allows you to script some very complex operations on files successfully and repeatably. Scripts can be shared with anyone else that has ASHE or the ASHE Run Time application (*free*). Scripts can be launched from the user interface or from the command line (command line is the only feature disabled in the demo).
If you are familiar with hex editors and their operation, we think you will find that ASHE is a good product without scripting, and a great product with it.
The quickest way to learn what ASHE has to offer is to open a binary file with it and 'look' around in it.
Deciphering the displays and becoming familiar with the product should come pretty easily to people experienced with any sort of binary editing tool.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
In conjunction with the free run time (ASHE_RT.exe), your scripts will have an audience!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
ASHE is not intended to aid in any illegal activity, nor is it very well suited to such activity.
If you are looking for a hacking tool, you should probably look elsewhere.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Doubleclick the help file (ASHE.hlp). Read through, and execute the example scripts, this is the quickest way to start with scripting.

See our web site, http://www.grandriversoftware.com, for current updates to the demonstration distribution, example scripts, help file updates, etc.
