Installation Notes:

1. iTask requires the Visual Basic 6 runtime with DAO files be installed before the iTask installation! Download from http://129.93.9.65/zips/vb6_runtime.zip

2. Note if already using iTask version 1 or 1.1: iTask 2.0 uses a different data format and file location for groups and tasks. So you will have to reinstall iTask.

3. Unzip itask.zip to a temporary folder and run SETUP.EXE to install iTask.

DESCRIPTION:

iTask is a replacement or complimentary program/application launcher for Win95/98/NT. iTask uses the Win 3.1 concept of program groups and applications. iTask places a small window on your desktop containing two columns. The first column contains a list of your program groups. The second column contains a list of shortcuts to your programs for the selected program group. These are called Tasks in iTask. The Tasks can be shortcuts to applications or batch files.

iTask can replace your Start Menu, or just compliment it by making your most used applications very visible and accessible.

With the menu options or convenient mouse buttons, Program Groups or Tasks can be added, deleted, moved, or edited within your Group and Task lists.

Tasks are added to the Task list by importing shortcuts from your start menu or desktop. Tasks can also be added manually by selecting a executable file from a folder. Three groups are installed by default in the iTask installation process. Begin by adding Tasks to these groups or by adding other groups.

Release Notes:

1. New in iTask version 1.1 : Now support for importing Windows shortcuts from your desktop or start menu into iTask!

2. New in iTask version 2.0 : iTask now remembers it's last placement on the screen when launched. Added configurable options including Fonts and Colors. Added a configurable button bar called iBar. iBar adds buttons for Internet, file, and system management. Also in iBar are buttons that can be configured to run applications of your choice. These can be imported right from your start menu or desktop. Right click on the buttons to configure them! iBar can be enabled or disabled in the "options" menu. Also new is the ability to associate files with tasks such as having a task that opens a document into your application. Added option to start programs minimized, normal or maximized. Added iTask icon to system tray. Single clicking this brings iTask to front. Double clicking the system tray icon hides or shows iBar depending on the visible state of iBar. Simplified keyboard use by adding "Enter" and "Esc" key recognition. Added right click popup menus for group and task lists, and also iBar configurations. ISP button on iBar now turns green while connected. Clicking it again disconnects. Added "Dial-Up Networking" to the "Options" menu. Added "Empty Recycle Bin" to the "System" menu. Added history list to command line. Added iTask hot key, Alt-1, will bring up iTask if it is running. Added list sorting to both Group and Task menus. Added "Hover Select" option to the "Options" menu. When it has a check mark next to it "Hover Selection" is enabled. This means that hovering the mouse over the task selects it and clicking it once launches the task. If "Hover Select" does not have a check next to it (default), then clicking once on a task selects it, double-clicking the task launches it. Toggle this by clicking on "Hover Select" under the "Options" menu. Groups or Tasks can now also be deleted by selecting the Task, and then striking the "Delete " key.
