A. Welcome and Thanks
---------------------

Thank you for your interest in OfficeBoard 2.0.1. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome at info@officeboard.com.

-------------------------
B. Installing OfficeBoard
-------------------------

Within the OB201.ZIP file, you will find a README.TXT (the file you are now reading), a LICENSE.TXT file (which you must read before installing OfficeBoard), an OB_CLIENT_SETUP.EXE file, and an OB_ADMIN_SETUP.EXE file.

Extract the OB_ADMIN_SETUP.EXE file from the OB201.ZIP file, then run it on the computer that you will designate as your OfficeBoard "Server". This Server computer may run Windows NT, 95, or 98. It must have a Static (ie, non-DHCP) IP Address.

Extract the OB_CLIENT_SETUP.EXE file from the OB201.ZIP file, then run it on the computer(s) that you will designate as your OfficeBoard "Clients". These Client computers may run Windows NT, 95, or 98, and they may have dynamic, or DHCP-type IP addresses. The Server computer may also function as a Client, if you wish.

Installation is complete.

*** IF YOU ARE UPGRADING from a previous version of OfficeBoard (1.5 or earlier), then you must run the Data File Converter on your Admin/Server AFTER 2.0.1 installation, but BEFORE running Admin/Server. This is very simple. There is an icon in your Start->Program Files->OfficeBoard menu from the Start Button, which represents the Data File Converter (it resembles a sprocket). Double-click this icon to run the OfficeBoard Data File Converter, which will bring your current 1.5 data files up to 2.0.1 compatibility with the click of a button. Now you are ready to run OfficeBoard 2.0.1 ***

C. Running OfficeBoard
----------------------

To run the OfficeBoard Admin/Server Program (Server) on a machine, double click the pbAdmin Icon from Windows Explorer, or create a shortcut on your desktop if you wish. Or, from the DOS prompt, type "obAdmin" at the C:\PROGRAM FILES\OFFICEBOARD\OFFICEBOARD ADMIN prompt.

To run the OfficeBoard Program (Client) on a machine, double click the PowerBoard Icon from Windows Explorer, or create a shortcut on your desktop if you wish. Or, from the DOS prompt, type "OfficeBoard" at the C:\PROGRAM FILES\OFFICEBOARD\OFFICEBOARD CLIENT prompt.

This system is now ready to go. The first thing you'll need to do is define some new Departments and Users using the OfficeBoard Admin/Server program. Once you have created some users, you can run the OfficeBoard program (Client) from a remote computer, and log in as one of the users. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR UPPERCASE AND LOWERCASE LETTERS ARE CORRECT.
