EqFit(TM) for Windows, Equation Fitting Tools, Version 3.0, [ASP/ESC]

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

EqFit(TM) has a multiple Regression Workbench to build and test trial
equations against your data. Transform data as needed. View the results
using graphical plots and any of five statistical output reports. Graph
data, residuals, calculated Y, probability, and more. Watch the graphs
change as you revise your regression equation. Predict Y using the new
equation.

Print graphs and print or save calculated results to a file. Use ASCII
or dBase files to input data. Create or edit data in the EqFit grid.
Regression benchmarks are included to satisfy quality concerns. Also
included are Descriptive Statistics and Histograms to analyze a column
of data and Simple Regression(X-Y) to try a fit with 12 different
equation forms.

The data file, EFTest.dat, is used as an example in all of the help
files. The results of fitting an equation to this data are shown in file
EFTest.txt. You might want to use this data for your first trial run.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

EqFit requires a compatible PC computer with Windows 95/98/NT4 installed
and running. The current memory in your computer should be adequate if
you are able to use other Windows applications satisfactorily. The hard
disk space needed is less than 700 kilobytes.

EQFIT(TM) INSTALLATION

You will probably receive EqFit in one of two ways. In the first way,
you will have a floppy disk with the twenty-one individual files listed
below:

EQFIT.EXE - EqFit executable for Windows 95/98 or greater
EQFIT.HLP - EqFit help for Windows 95/98 or greater
ORDER.TXT - Purchase Order form for Users
      README.TXT - Getting Started Documentation
PAD_FILE.HTM - EqFit information for Internet users
OVERVIEW.TXT - Overview of what EqFit does
EFTEST.TXT - Results of an equation fit using EFTEST.DAT
BENCHMRK.DOC - Benchmarks to evaluate statistical software
EQFIT.CNT - EqFit help for Windows 95/98 or greater
      MFCH12.DLL - EqFit helper DLL

LONGLEY.DAT - Regression benchmark data set by Longley
      TAB21.DAT - Benchmark data (BENCHMRK.DOC)
      TAB411.DAT - Benchmark data (BENCHMRK.DOC)
      TAB421.DAT - Benchmark data (BENCHMRK.DOC)
      TAB441.DAT - Benchmark data (BENCHMRK.DOC)
PAD_FILE.XML - EqFit Portable Application Description (PAD)
      VENDINFO.DIZ - EqFit Product Information
      VENDOR.TXT - Vendor information
FILE_ID.DIZ - BBS description of EqFit

INSTALL.EXE - Installation Program for EqFit

If you have a disk with the twenty-one files, use the instructions given
in the section below titled, "USING THE INSTALL PROGRAM".

The second way to receive EqFit is in a compressed file or archive. The
compressed file name should be EQFIT30.xxx where "xxx" indicates which
file compression utility was used (usually ZIP). In this case, use the
suggestions given in the section titled, "INSTALL FROM A COMPRESSED
FILE".

If you prefer to install EqFit manually, see the section titled,
"INSTALL MANUALLY" below.

USING THE INSTALL PROGRAM

To install EqFit, start up Windows and put the EqFit floppy disk in
Drive A. Follow the directions in the paragraphs below:

From the Start menu select Run. Type "A:INSTALL" in the dialog box that
appears. After you press the ENTER key or click on the OK button, the
Install program will start on the floppy drive. If you are installing
from B drive, substitute the letter B for the letter A above.

The Install program will copy the EqFit files to a new folder titled
"EqFit" on your hard drive (C:). You will have an opportunity to revise
the folder name and installation location. Click on the OK button or
press the ENTER key to start the file transfer to the folder you
selected.

A menu item titled, "EqFit" will be added to the Start menu with
"shortcuts" to the first eight files listed above.

INSTALL FROM A COMPRESSED FILE - EQFIT30.ZIP or EQFIT30.EXE

If you received EqFit as a single file such as EQFIT30.ZIP, copy this
file to a temporary folder on your hard drive. Next, decompress the file
using a decompression utility program such as WinZip. Several other
compression/decompression utilities are in common use. You can probably
obtain the correct utility from the same place you obtained the EqFit
archive.

If the EqFit archive file name is EQFIT30.EXE, you decompress it by
running it from your temporary folder. Just double-click on the file
name in Explorer and the program will decompress. No other utilities are
needed.

Once the archive file is decompressed, you should have all of the files
listed above in your temporary folder. Now you can install EqFit as
described above in the section titled, "USING THE INSTALL PROGRAM".
Instead of typing "A:INSTALL" in the Run dialog box, you would type,
"C:\TMP\INSTALL", where C:\TMP is the current hard drive and temporary
folder where the files are located.

INSTALL MANUALLY

If you prefer to install EqFit manually, copy the all the files listed
above to the folder of your choice. Next, create a Start menu item by
adding a folder called "EqFit" in the Windows\Start Menu\Progams folder.
Now, add eight "shortcuts" to the "EqFit" folder for the first eight
files you copied to the folder of your choice above.

RUNNING EQFIT

Start EqFit by clicking on the Start menu and selecting the Programs
menu item. Now, select the EqFit menu and then select the next EqFit
menu displayed.

Selecting Exit from the File menu closes EqFit. You can also use the
Alt+F4 key combination to do the same thing.

UNINSTALL EQFIT

Using Explorer, delete the folder containing the EqFit files. First,
select the folder and then delete it by pressing the 'Delete' key. EqFit
places a file named, "eqfit.ini" in the Windows folder of your computer.
You may also delete this file.

To remove the "EqFit" item from the Start menu, move to the
Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder using Explorer. Expand the folder by
clicking on the "+". Now, click on the EqFit folder and press the delete
key.

EQFIT DOCUMENTATION

All of the EqFit features are documented in EqFit Help. You can select
the Help menu item from within EqFit or you can double click on the
EqFit Help icon. Either way, the Windows Help program will run EqFit
Help.

Be sure and review the, "Getting Started" section for an overview of
EqFit. See EqFit Tips for information on how the program passed the
benchmark tests.

SHAREWARE

Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before
buying it. If you try EqFit and continue using it for over 30 days, you
are required to purchase it by registering. Any fees you paid to obtain
the Shareware version were copying and distribution fees and did not
cover the registration payment required for continued use of the
program.

Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You should
find software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether it's
commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes fitting your needs
easier, because you can try before you buy. And because the overhead is
low, prices are low also. Shareware has the ultimate money-back
guarantee -- if you don't use the product, you don't pay for it.
